Leftovers Exhibited

2013, The Netherlands, Design Academy Eindhoven

This project explores a perception of workspace scarcity within the masters department at Design Academy Eindhoven. Emotional attachment to objects & materials have resulted in desktop storage & clutter hoarding. However, is it a shortage of space or misuse of space?

‘Leftovers Exhibited’ is a system to help designers gain closure on a personal project by exhibiting, celebrating, reflecting and donating its prototype leftovers. The result is an exhibition of leftover objects together with a video interview documenting the process.

To get a grasp of peoples relationship with their workspace, designers were asked to write on the blackboard why they actually used this space to work. As a result this series of portraits portrays the people, their personal space of choice and their relationship with it.
